The popAI project along with sibling projects ALIGNER & STARLIGHT will participate in the “Security Research Event 2023: Societal transformations, climate change and digitalisation – a new paradigm of Security Research?” between 24-25 October 2023, in Brussels, Belgium.

During the 2-day event, the popAI project will have a joint booth with ALIGNER and STARLIGHT at the designated area, where project representatives will raise awareness of their projects (goals and shared objectives).

The Security Research Event (SRE) is the annual event where industry, governments and knowledge institutions come together to discuss the state of play and current challenges for security research in Europe, as well as its future steps.

The emerging challenges of megatrends are shifting the security environment within the EU, at the same time, climate change, followed by extreme weather conditions is affecting our society’s well-being. The real and digital worlds are increasingly intertwined, deeply impacting society at every level, thus creating new opportunities for criminal actions. Therefore, the societal changes caused by climate change and rapid digitalisation have raised a debate on the role of EU security research.

The event will include thematic panel discussions, raising questions such as Foreseeing risks, developing EU capabilities: can we do more? Digitalisation of society: new threats, new opportunities, new responses? Natural, accidental and intentional disasters of the future: are we prepared?

Finally, the exhibition will be open throughout the duration of the event and it will be enriched with small scale demos prepared by selected projects.
